What this New Blogging Experience means to me
I took this photo of 2 fishermen paddling across the Zambezi River, Africa’s 4th Longest River. This was while on a work visit to Livingstone, Zambia’s tourist resort town.
Looks a bit blurred I should think; that goes to show how much of a bad photographer I am, though I want to believe it has much to do with the poor picture quality of the digital camera I was using at the time. Don’t argue you were not there. ;-)
Anyway, for purposes of this post, the most important thing about this photo is not in its picture quality but the question a friend and I posed to one of the two fishermen in the picture (must be the guy paddling while standing):
Are you not afraid of crocodiles on this river as you go about your fishing expeditions?

Two days ago, I gave a speech at a Toastmasters club I belong to. I had this for the title of my speech: Falling in love with an Idea. The speech was about “choosing and following life passion”, and I asked the audience the following questions among others:
- What dreams would you pursue if you knew you would not fail?
- (Most importantly) What dreams would you STILL pursue if you knew you had a real chance of failure?
*
Having just set up this blog … in the last 48 hours, I can’t help but sense that I am embarking on a journey; and uppermost on my mind has been the question, “will I succeed as a blogger or am I going to fail?” (As if to say that I would stop if I establish with reason that I wouldn’t succeed)
Interestingly, within the same period I was contemplating this new journey I received this email (emphasis is mine):
“Would you ever take a journey, Christopher, if you knew ahead of time that you’d become hopelessly lost, have your heart broken into pieces, and sometimes wish you’d never been born?
Now, how about if you knew ahead of time that on that very same journey you’d also find yourself, fall passionately in love, and live happily ever after?
Yeah, I know, you made the same choice a long, long time ago.
Que bueno,
The Universe”
Truth be told, this email was not sent by the Universe. Its one of Mike Dooley’s free Note from the Universe. This particular one (like many others) happened to have just arrived “at the right time”.
And the amazingly thing is that a few minutes prior to receiving this email, I had just made the following FaceBook wall post.
There is no question that living and growing consciously, and blogging about this experience is something I have fallen in love with.
- Would I pursue this passion if I knew I would succeed? Absolutely.
- Would I pursue this passion even if I had a real BIG chance of failure? YES!
Why?
As I said in my very first post on this blog, my biggest wish is to help someone out there and also get the help that is there for me in this warmly cyber community of like-minded (and sometimes maybe not so like-minded but passionate) people. But I don’t see this “wish” as an objective someplace destination, I view it as ever changing scenery of an everlasting journey. It’s about the journey, not the destination because the journey is in fact the destination.
As I move into this new virtual home, it’s about the journey and the changing landscape along life’s path. The good thing for me is that, this is what living and growing consciously is all about ~ being aware of, and experiencing the scenery along the way with an understanding that that IS the destination.
As with any passion, so it is with life. It is about being alive to the simplicity of the journey that IS the destination. The constancy or “constant nature” of the journey is THE destination.
You might as well be happy now; you might as well begin helping your neighbor now, you might as well begin making those changes in your life now; you might as well free yourself from the illusions that have held you captive… if you can (and you most likely can)
On whatever journey you are, know that all that has ever happened in your life was to bring you HERE, but HERE you have always been and HERE you will always be, because HERE is the destination that the journey IS. Your job is to learn how you can become better at being HERE. And that is what this blog will be about.
What this new blogging experience means to me is what life IS: Living and Growing Consciously ~ Life, Passion, Simplicity.
PS. I would LOVE to hear from YOU. Kindly share your thoughts in the comments page which you can open by clicking the “comments” link in the top right corner of this post. Thank you.
